Gerdus is a South African musician and producer based in Berlin. After completing his tertiary education at Stellenbosch University, he completed a Professional Certificate Course in Electronic Music Production and Sound Design through Berklee Music College's online school, Berklee Online. During this time he started working as a freelance composer, sound designer, field recordist, and mixing engineer.
While Gerdus has found his musical journey, from composing to producing, rewarding in itself, there has been a few highlights. Two television commercials for which he composed music received a bronze and gold respectively at the South African Loerie Awards. He also helped create an interactive installation art piece with Native VML, which was accepted into the SXSW Interactive Innovation Awards in 2013. During 2015, Natasja Fourie’s short film The Man with the Heavy Leg for which Gerdus created the original music and sound design made it into the Cannes Film Festival's Short Film Corner.
Always in search of new inspiration and growth, Gerdus moved to Berlin in 2016 to further his career as a music creator, performer, and producer.
